Roger Eddy has long been known as a ruthless campaigner, willing to dig up and use personal attacks on his opponent to attain and retain political power. Eddy’s tactics as candidate for the Republican nomination in Illinois’ newly drawn 110th District should give any voter cause for alarm.
This is a single paragraph displayed prominently on Eddy’s campaign web site,
and some information about the errors and distortions contained in it:
A self-promoting Chicago area Milionaire is upset that Representative Eddy would not vote for a Chicago School voucher Bill that would have diverted funds away from downstate schools. So, he is sponsoring an out of district candidate to run against Representative Eddy . The petition circulators for this puppet opponent also live outside of the 110th District as does his campaign manager, Susan Petty of Effingham. - A self-promoting Chicago area Milionaire
The “milionaire” in question is Adam Andrzejewski (Ann-gee-EFF-ski), former candidate for Governor and head of For the Good of Illinois. The “self-promoting” charge is ludicrous, since all politicians have to be self-promoters and this charge of self-promotion appears on Eddy’s web site promoting himself. Further, if the charge is that Andrzejewski is supporting Brad Halbrook, he is clearly not promoting himself. If Eddy is concerned about self-promoters, he should cheer Mr. Andrzejewski’s decision to support Halbrook.
- is upset that Representative Eddy would not vote for a Chicago School voucher Bill that would have diverted funds away from downstate schools.
The money would have come out of the Chicago Public Schools budget. Also, the real issue for Eddy is that he thinks Chicago parents might have made the wrong decision if given the choice. To reward Eddy for his obedience, teachers’ unions are giving generously to Eddy’s campaign.
- So, he is sponsoring an out of district candidate to run against Representative Eddy.
This is particularly disingenuous on Eddy’s part. The 110th District is new, coming out of the 2010 Census year redistricting. The 110th was drawn specifically to include Eddy’s home. Both Eddy’s home and Brad Halbrook‘s home were formerly in the 109th district under the old maps.
- The petition circulators for this puppet opponent also live outside of the 110th District as does his campaign manager, Susan Petty of Effingham.
The more Eddy tries to get voters to think there is something wrong with Illinoisans who happen to live just outside the District, the more I wonder if Eddy used his influence with Chicago Democrats to draw the lines in his favor.

Here we have Roger Eddy calling someone wealthy — isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black. Eddy has for years been drawing a combined state and school district compensation package of over $200,000 per year. Not bad for part-time work. Furthermore, For the Good of Illinois is a reform organization out to battle the very Chicago machine Eddy is hinting at, and Eddy knows it.
The class warfare arguments that Eddy is trying to make may be popular among his Democrat friends, but I don’t think Republican voters will appreciate them. It’s one thing to oppose your opponent for his ideas, but it’s quite another to twist facts and attack Republicans using the personal destruction techniques of liberals and the Chicago machine.
